Bishop Sarah leads 200th anniversary service at St Luke’s Chelsea


The Bishop of London, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, presided over a service to mark the 200th anniversary of St Luke’s Chelsea.

This church was consecrated by the Bishop of London on St Luke’s Day, 18th October 1824, after the foundation stone was laid on October 12th 1820. In its two centuries at the heart of the community in West London it has played host to many notable events, including the marriage of Charles Dickens in 1836.

Bishop Sarah attended the service alongside the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
