A Christmas message for the capital


The Bishop has today wished Londoners a happy and peaceful Christmas among their loved ones, in a column in the Evening Standard.

Reminding us of the call to be charitable, he notes that “The more indefatigably we love our neighbour in the Spirit of Christ the more certain we are made of the worth and loveliness of our own souls and that our destiny is to participate in the love of God in eternity.”

Looking back on the events of 2016, the Bishop notes: “Moving among the many communities in the global crossroads which is contemporary London, I am constantly surprised by hope. It’s possible to be immobilised by gloom by privileging extreme voices and exaggerating examples of conflict. But there is much good work going on to cross boundaries and build new communities.”
