Thousands of Londoners and police officers from forces around the country filled Southwark Cathedral and lined the streets for the funeral of PC Keith Palmer, who was killed in the line of the duty during the Westminster terror attack of 22^nd March.  The Rt Revd Pete Broadbent, Bishop of Willesden, attended the funeral as Acting Bishop of London and paid tribute to PC Palmer, commenting:

“Today is a solemn and sad occasion. Keith Palmer died doing the job he loved. We are grateful for his example and his service, and for the hugely dedicated work that he and his colleagues in the Met and police forces throughout the country undertake each day. We celebrate today all that Keith stood for. May he rest in peace.”

The funeral service at Southwark Cathedral was led by the Dean of Southwark, the Very Reverend Andrew Nunn. The Metropolitan Police’s senior chaplain, the Revd Prebendary Jonathan Osborne, led prayers. PC Palmer’s coffin was earlier transported from the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft in the Palace of Westminster where it had lain overnight attended by the Revd Prebendary Rose Hudson-Wilkin and a guard of honour.
