Confirmation of Election

Confirmation of Election

The election of the Rt Revd Sarah Mullally as Bishop of London was confirmed today, 8th March at St Mary-le-Bow. During the service, the Archbishop of Canterbury confirmed the election made by the College of Canons on the 25th January.

This means that Bishop Sarah has legally taken on the responsibilities of Bishop of London, but in practice, she will continue to honour her remaining commitments as Bishop of Crediton. Bishop Sarah has reflected on her experience falling on International Women’s Day on her blog, here.

As previously announced, Bishop Sarah will be installed as Bishop of London at St Paul’s Cathedral on 12th May. This is the opportunity for the Diocese and the people of London to celebrate Bishop Sarah taking up the role. More information will be available from the Cathedral in due course regarding the service.
