Bishop Sarah’s activity during Advent and Christmas

The Bishop of London, The Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, marked the Advent period, leading up to the wonderful mystery of Christ’s birth.

Bishop Sarah spent time visiting parishes across the Diocese of London, sharing in the season of expectation and preparation with communities from Ealing to Hyde Park.

In the lead up to Christmas, Bishop Sarah had the privilege to see God’s love in local communities as she visited Perivale Church which is hosting the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter.
The emergency shelter provides food, warmth and companionship every night from November to March each year, working with 20 churches and 200 volunteers.

Bishop Sarah also made a visit to the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy at Heathrow Airport. This special chapel provides valuable support throughout the year to the Heathrow’s many employees and passengers, including spiritual, emotional, and practical care.

Bishop Sarah said it was fantastic to join the team on Tuesday to see how they are blessing passengers and the airport community.

“Joy is born exactly where despair expects to triumph.”

On Christmas Day at St Paul’s Cathedral, Bishop Sarah preached of a joy strong enough for the world as it is – a joy born in crowded places, when we make room for one another.
